RTC Europe 2015 My Class – Work Points – Geometries – Coordinates – Schedules Part 2 – Family Reports Coordinates

In common curtain panels created from dividing surface of a mass, how can we report the coordinates of the vertices of each panel and schedule them?  Here is a solution.

Preparing Shared Parameters

  • For the coordinates of the Work Points to be schedulable, the parameters for the coordinates have to be shared parameters.
  • Create Shared Parameters 2x, 2y, 2z, 3x, 3y, 3z, 4x, 4y, 4z, 5x, 5y, 5z

Creating 5 Points Adaptive Component Family

  • Create 5 points and make them adaptive.
  • Join point 2, 3, 4 and 5 with reference lines.

Create a surface from the reference lines.

Creating Reporting Parameters

  • Select xy plane of point 1, dimension from yz plane to the vertex at point 2 of the surface. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “2x”, reporting.
  • Repeat for vertex at point 3. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “3x”, reporting.
  • Repeat for vertex at point 4. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “4x”, reporting.
  • Repeat for vertex at point 5. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “5x”, reporting.
  • Select xy plane of point 1, dimension from zx plane to the vertex at point 2 of the surface. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “2y”, reporting.
  • Repeat for vertex at point 3. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “3y”, reporting.
  • Repeat for vertex at point 4. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “4y”, reporting.
  • Repeat for vertex at point 5. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “5y”, reporting.
  • Select zx plane of point 1, dimension from xy plane to the vertex at point 2 of the surface. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “2z”, reporting.
  • Repeat for vertex at point 3. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “3z”, reporting.
  • Repeat for vertex at point 4. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “4z”, reporting.
  • Repeat for vertex at point 5. Turn dimension into Shared Parameter “5z”, reporting.

 

Placing Family Instances on Surface

  • Load the 5 Points Adaptive family to a Project.
  • Turn on visibility of Project Base Point.
  • Create an in-place mass. Place a point at the Project Base Point.
  • Create a surface, divide it and turn on the nodes.
  • Place an instance of the 5 Points Adaptive family by clicking the point at the Project Base Point and 4 other nodes on the surface.
  • Select the Adaptive family and Repeat.

     

Spot Coordinates and Scheduling

  • Use Spot Coordinates to check the coordinates of the four vertices of a panel
  • Use the Properties Box to check if the reporting parameters for the panel vertices are matching the true coordinates.
